Web3DC, as the organizer of the Web3 Track at DC Startup & Tech Week, is the data controller responsible for the information you submit in this application.

To ask about your data, request access, correction, or deletion, or withdraw consent, email info@web3dc.xyz.

We collect only the information needed to evaluate, program, and (if selected) promote your session. Each part of the application and its purpose:

• Contact information

  Collected: Name, email, phone (optional), city, state, country.

  Purpose: To evaluate your application, contact selected speakers, and coordinate event logistics.

• Professional information

  Collected: Job title, company, industry, biography, years of experience, expertise areas.

  Purpose: To assess subject-matter expertise and fit with the program.

• Speaking application

  Collected: Roles, session topics, presentation title and description, takeaway, preferred format.

  Purpose: To review and program your proposed session.

• Experience & materials

  Collected: Prior participation, professional headshot, optional supporting document.

  Purpose: To evaluate your background and to publish materials if you are selected.

• Additional information

  Collected: How you heard about the event, referral, and any notes you add.

  Purpose: To understand our community and improve outreach.

Phone numbers are optional and are used only to contact selected speakers about logistics. Your draft is saved in this browser's local storage on the same device so you can return to finish your application; it is not shared with anyone until you submit.

Where required (for example, applicants in the EU, UK, or California), we process your information on the following bases:

• Consent — for storing your application data, using your name, title, company, biography and headshot for marketing if you are selected, recording sessions, and sending you future opportunity updates you opt into.
• Legitimate interests — to evaluate applications, program the event, and run the selection process.

Your application is reviewed only by authorized Web3DC programming staff. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with sponsors, exhibitors, or external judges. Applicant data is never published publicly.

We use trusted third-party service providers under contract to host the website and store data and uploaded files (including the platform that powers this site and its database and file storage). These providers process data only on our instructions to operate the service and are bound to protect it.

Submitted applications and uploaded files are stored encrypted and are accessible only to authorized programming staff. Files are kept in a private storage area and are never made public.

Your data is stored in the United States. If you are applying from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By submitting an application you acknowledge this transfer.

• Submitted applications and uploaded files are retained for 24 months after the event, then securely deleted.
• In-progress drafts saved in this browser are kept locally until you submit or clear them; drafts saved to your account are removed when you submit or after 24 months.
• If you ask to be removed earlier, we will delete your application and files on request (see your rights below).

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Delete your application and uploaded files.
• Withdraw your consent for marketing use, recording, or future updates at any time.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@web3dc.xyz and we will respond within 30 days. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that has already taken place.

If you have opted into future updates, every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by using that link or by emailing us.

We do not use solely-automated decision-making or profiling to select speakers. All applications are reviewed by members of the Web3DC programming team.

The Web3 Track is intended for professionals. You must be 18 or older to apply.

If you believe we have not handled your data properly and you are in the EU, UK, or another region with a data protection authority, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. You can also contact us first at info@web3dc.xyz and we will work to resolve your concern.

We may update this notice to reflect changes in how we operate or for legal reasons. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
